Langat 2 Scheme

LRAL2 will be the largest Water Supply Scheme in Malaysia supplying 1890 MLD of treated water.

It will be carried out through two (2) Phases, namely Phase 1 and Phase 2 with 1130 MLD for Phase 1 and 760 MLD for Phase 2 of water to the targeted demand centres.

Phase Stream Sub Total
Phase 1 Stream 1 565MLD 1,130MLD
Stream 2 565MLD
Phase 2 760MLD 760MLD
1,890MLD

The current construction is mainly for the Langat 2 Water Supply Scheme Phase 1 works.

Name Description
Water Treatment
  • Raw Water Inlet Connection Chamber at the PSRWT Tunnel Outlet Portal at the end of the PSRWT Tunnel, at a location approximately 2 km from Hulu Langat town centre.
  • Raw water bulk transfer pipelines from the Raw Water Inlet Connection Chamber to the Langat 2 WTP – It consists of four (4) nos. 3000 mm dia. Raw Water Gravity Mains from the Raw Water Outlet Connection Chamber to the Langat 2 WTP to convey raw water from the PSRWT Tunnel to the WTP. Two (2) nos. will be for the Phase 1 WTP and the remaining two will be for Phase 2 WTP. Each main will connect to one Stream of the WTPs.
  • A total water treatment flow capacity of 2260 MLD comprising two (2) equal phases of 1130 MLD each namely Phase 1 and Phase 2.
  • Current construction is for Phase 1 works that will be developed in two (2) streams of 565 MLD each.
  • Residuals dewatering system and residuals landfill Staff quarters at the Langat 2 WTP site
Distribution North
  • Ampang Reservior 36 Ml with 113.0 m LSD and its associated 100 m length of 1700 mm dia. treated water gravity main from the Hulu Langat Balancing Reservoir to Hulu Langat tunnel inlet portal; 100 m length of 1700 mm dia. treated water gravity main from the Hulu Langat tunnel outlet portal to Ampang Reservior and 2200 m length of twin lined tunnel from Hulu Langat Balancing Reservior to Ampang Reservior.
  • AU3 Reservior 28 Ml with 105.0 m LSD and its assocated 10100 m length of 1500 mm dia treated water gravity main from Ampang reservior to AU3 reservior
